Re: defs problem

Thanks to Jeff and Uwe for explaining the problem I was having with defs
and @Display.  The ironic thing is that I wasn't planning to use
@Display in these definitions in the long term, so if I'd experimented
further I'd have stumbled upon the fact that it was a peculiarity of
@Display.  Good to hear the reason though from those who know the insides
of lout well.
