PDF is not a subset of postscript. They share imaging model, but the
"linguistic" layer is different. PS is a fully fledged programming
language and @Diag relies heavily on this fact. @Diag delegates a lot
of work to PS and older printers sometimes got wedged on a moderately
complex diagramm (e.g. I had these problems with DEC LPS 17).
