True enough, but that's pretty much only the kerning pairs. If you
simply need the width and bounding box of a single character such as the
euro symbol (where you don't really need kerning information), then it's
trivial to get at the data.

Out of curiosity, why (for purposes of using them with lout), if
you have Type 1 fonts already?
