Yes, although I would have said "something wrong with @VSpan".
You might be able to make the error message go away by enclosing
the table in @OneRow or some such thing. I won't be revisiting
the implementation of @VSpan though, since it is horrible and I
now consider it to be too complicated and error-riddled to be
safe to touch.
