Here's what I see:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 28416 7656 1a75a 27% /
rwfs 512 32 47a 6% /mnt/rwfs
rwfs 512 32 47a 6% /tmp
rwfs 512 32 47a 6% /var
shm 63a64 0 63a64 0% /dev/shm
There are a lot of 'a's, but only in the column "Available".
Setting the Locale has no effect.
I am using Minicom, too. It also appears using SSH with dropbear.
