hmmmmmmm ... we have no such pkg_map file. we have the generic
dist/lfs-5.1/common/pkg_map file, followed by the platform-specific
pkg_map file, and that's it. but the ltib setup here is fairly old so
probably doesn't contain any newer features.

you know, what i'll do is, shortly, summarize what i did that seemed
to work, and you can tell me what i did stupidly, and other folks
might find it useful, or they can laugh at me. i'm good either way.
