Hi Stuart,

Actually I hadn't touched kernel-common.tmpl. I hadn't even deduced that that's where the building gets done. From the rpmbuild command, I had seen that rpm/SPECS/kernel26-dir-build.spec was getting used, and this is where I was investigating. That's where I had inserted the "echo". Indeed, the build section in this spec file was empty, so nothing got built.

_ltib_dir_/tmp/ was already empty, presumably from my ./ltib -m distclean that I had tried. Thanks to your comment, I realized something was getting in the way of kernel-common.tmpl doing its thing, and I deleted the rpm/SPECS/kernel26-dir-build.spec file. After that it worked again.

Thanks for the help.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Looking at your output, it looks like you've edited the
kernel-common.tmpl spec file body:

------------------------
Executing(%build): /bin/sh -e /home/michael/iMX/eaglevision/ltib/ltib/tmp/rpm-tmp.89951
+ umask 022
+ cd /home/michael/iMX/eaglevision/ltib/ltib/rpm/BUILD
+ echo hallo
hallo
+ exit 0
--------------------

So nothing gets build and so the later sections will fail.
You need to back out of your changes if you want to go
back to normal building.

It may be enough just to delete _ltib_dir_/tmp/*.spec

Regards, Stuart

Hi all,

While doing a seemingly routine ltib build recently, rpm froze up. Unfortunately I don't recall or have the record of where it exactly froze up. After killing it, I was not able to build due to an RPM lock I wasn't able to find, so I restarted my PC. Now I still can't build my out-of-tree kernel, and I understand too little about how LTIB builds out-of-tree kernels to debug it. Below is the output from ltib. It is looking for something deep in tmp/kernel/, which doesn't exist. './ltib -p kernel -m scbuild' has no errors, but it doesn't build anything, either. It seems like this is the step where something is missing, not the install step where the error actually comes.

Does someone have a suggestion as to what the problem might be?

thanks,
Michael
