I changed the configure statement to get the extra LDFLAGS into the Makefile.

Hi Bart,

It looks like the package is directly calling 'ld', this is unusual and 
the cause of not finding libncurses as only a few paths are wired into 
ld by default.

If possible you should change the build rule in the Makefile to call out 
    $(CC), which is more conventional when linking libraries. 
Alternatively you'll have to include a option and the make command line 
(usually LDFLAG or LD_EXTRAFLAGS or similar, look in the Makefile). 
Then you could say for example: 'make LDFLAGS="-L$DEV_IMAGE/usr/lib"
