Follow-up Comment #17, bug #17922 (project lwip):

OK, this time I modified Christiaans version of mem_malloc(). This works for
me:
- I can malloc the whole (MEM_SIZE - SIZEOF_STRUCT_MEM)
- "Toms test" (see below) passes
- No exceptions when running the stack with UDP / TCP apps (except memory
allocation failures -> whole mem _is_ used sometimes!)

I'll attach the patch and look forward to your comments!
