Follow-up Comment #3:
Fixed by adding ppp_set_netif_statuscallback()/ppp_set_netif_linkcallback().
This has the advantage that every ppp session can get its own callback
instead of configuring one callback for all sessions at compile time (plus it
better resembles the netif api).
