Follow-up Comment #60, bug #27352 (project lwip):

Well son of a bitfield.  I just ran with no packing on the NIOS II and it
*does* work!  Either I thought I had tried it once and didn't try it, or, it
didn't work 18 months ago and does now.

Well this is good to know and better still to clarify.  So, processors that
require 32-bit alignment don't need packing at all.  Is this what this means?

My tests were all about not packing ip_addr_t and I didn't widen the test I
guess thinking that a 32-bit aligned CPU needed some packing.
