Triggering an LWIP_ASSERT when netif_num overflows is fine for me as well.  I
can add that to my patches.

Dirk,

What else do I need to add in lwip-contrib to add if.c and if.h to other
port's build systems?  I updated MSVC, but don't have any other environments
setup.
