If you use an OS, set NO_SYS=0 and do things as told for that case.
If you don't, set NO_SYS=1 and do things as told for that case.
You can have an OS and run in NO_SYS=1 in a single thread.
In NO_SYS=0, you can call the low-level functions, the RAW API, from
within one thread only, the one that all low-level functions run in.
