We were using the kannaDa characters for jihvAmUlIya and upadmAnIya as placeholders for devanAgarI ones (since they were not supported by many fonts). Now since font support for devanAgarI jihvAmUlIya and upadmAnIya has begun to improve, we're switching to the devanAgarI characters.​
