[m17n-list] how to get ñ typing ~n

Bonjour,

I have a file in my /usr/share/m17n directory, in wich I have (among
other lines):

("-n" ?ṅ)
 ("-N" ?Ṅ)
 ("~n" ?ñ)
 ("~N" ?Ñ)
 (".t" ?ṭ)
 (".T" ?Ṭ)
 (".d" ?ḍ)
 (".D" ?Ḍ)
 (".n" ?ṇ)
 (".N" ?Ṇ)
 ("'s" ?ś)
 ("'S" ?Ś)
 (".s" ?ṣ)
 (".S" ?Ṣ)

If I type on my keyboard -n, I get ṅ, I type ~n, I get ~n why what is
working for -n is not working for ~n?

I tried to replace ?ñ by [#xF1] but it does not work...

What is the right syntax?
