Yes, I'm working on the script to do this (task #10152) automatically.
Ideally it would be a sort of fsck for our database info, with
capability to fix stuff like the job status depending on what's in the
rendering directory.  I'd like to take the non-daemon-rewrite patches
out of the way first though.
