Hi everyone,

I feel really stupid about that one. I really didn't saw it :/ And I've tried a couple of time. Well, I try to fix that tonight and come back to tell you some good news :).

I had a previous problem with the "setting up table" steps of osm2pgsql so I thought that was it but not :).

The VM has 512Mb of RAM I think (since it's the default settings), I'll update that to 1Gb.

Just for the record, for the debian sid install, to get the postgis package (for postgresql 8.4) I had to modify the sources.list that came originally with Debian (maybe just something to point out in the INSTALL.Debian file).

Thank you very much !

This is certainly the issue. How much RAM do you have allocated to
your virtual machine? You should try first with a small country (in
OSM) like Albania or Turkey:

If it works, then you should address the original issue which is
probably RAM-related.
