It looks like the localhost name of your computer has no IP 
address. Try starting the GUI with the option -hostname 
"<name>" where you can replace <name> either by:

127.0.0.1
your internet IP address
your computer hostname

While Launching mldonkey GUI under MacOS X, I get the
following message :
Exception Not_found in gethostbyname
Exception Failure("inet_addr_of_string") in
inet_addr_of_string
Fatal error: exception Not_found

It happens right after the first window open, I just
can see the shape in the Xwindows env.
