I'm surprised, but not completely. .ini files are text 
files, and thus, can be very big. My question was: why 
is the files.ini file so big for only two files ? Have 
you read it to see its content ? Maybe the files you 
are downloading are very popular, and the files.ini 
contains all the sources found, so 10000 sources, 200 
bytes per source = 20 MB for one file...

A solution could be to use one file.ini per download, 
or use a binary format to compress these files.

Oh, it is not surprising you that only two files to download
makes such a big file. 
But if i want to start mldonkey i wait a hour and it is
crashed or linux. My harddrive goes crazy, too.
