Follow-up Comment #3:

You search for the libmagic library files, but MLDonkey misses
to libmagic file recognition database, the database is stored
in files named

magic
magic.mgc
magic.mime
magic.mime.mgc

If you have these files, but the binary version of MLDonkey can
not find them its because the directory where these files are on
Suse 9.0 maybe different from Debian Sarge, the distro the binary
core is built on. The libmagic libraries are statically linked
into MLDonkey binary so the search path is hard-coded, in this
case /usr/share/misc/file.

You have to compile MLDonkey yourself to get a core which can use
the libmagic database on your system.
