Sorry about the last one - my E-mailer went nuts (and apologies to the 
list moderator who also got a bad copy). I think I've got it to behave

Hmmm. Point taken. So, suppose that someday someone submitted a patch 
to monotone that added "monotone guess" - an independent command that 
just invoked "monotone rename" and so on, but was integrated into 
monotone in other respects (used the same configuration files etc.). 
That would be acceptable, right?

All we need now is someone who believes enough in uids to actually do 
that (in the best of open-source tradition :-). So the next time some 
pesky newcomer like myself raises the issue, the most effective answer 
would be "write a 'guess' command yourself and we'll consider merging 
it in". In the meanwhile, the design of monotone stays the simplest 
possible - I like that.

My apologies again for reawaking this issue, it seems to have a lot of 
history here :-)
