This is the case sensitivity issue I already reported a few weeks ago. In the /edu.umn.cbs.bass/cgi/ directory there is both a folder and a file named 'class'. The only difference is the case. The folder is 'class' and the file is 'Class'.

Neither Windows nor Mac OS X ship with hard drives formatted to be case-sensitive. They can use case-sensitive volume formats, but it's simply not the default.

Monotone should give a much better error message than it does, so it's clear that the problem is not one that monotone can solve.

James, if you want to solve this you'll have to rename either the folder or the file to something else.

Hi...

In the process of issuing a checkout from a monotone repository on another server (Debian Linux) on my Windows XP system I recieved the following error, which occurs consistently, upon successive retries. The checkout seems to be working find until this error is encountered. All of the code checked out up to that point seems to be fine: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- C:\www\cgi-bin>monotone checkout -d c:/umn/bass/source.db --branch edu.umn.cbs.bass monotone: fatal: std::exception: boost::filesystem::create_directories: "cgi\class": path exists and is not a directory
monotone: this is almost certainly a bug in monotone.
monotone: please send this error message, the output of 'monotone -- full-version', monotone: and a description of what you were doing to monotone- address@hidden

monotone: discarding debug log (maybe you want --debug or --dump?)

A monotone 'pull' was accomplished without an error, previous to this attempt to 'checkout' the code from one of the branches, the branch (edu.umn.cbs.bass) that I am working on.

For what it is worth, the 'ssh' connection with the Debian monotone server was established with the following command: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- C:\Documents and Settings\Jim Smith>plink -N -L 5253:localhost:5253 atp.cbs.umn.

Let me know if there is further diagnostic data that I can provide. Since it is reproducible I should have no difficulty extracting more data relating to this, if needed.

We are trying to move towards Monotone from CVS, using it across Unix(Solaris, Debian), OS-X and Windows. This error will prevent us from making this transition if we cannot overcome this problem. Any help will be appreciated.
