Aha, migration to Debian! Hmm, that feels like it's outside the scope
of dpkg-reconfigure, as that is for reconfiguration of something
that's already part of the Debian collective (*). I think migration
should be handled outside of the Debian installation process, perhaps
through a helper script and some instructions in the documentation
directory.
