AFAIK this is the indented behavior. Only 'mtn sync' and 'mtn push' search for a private key they can use - because none of the two would normally make sense. (Or is anybody seriously permitting anonymous write access?)
For 'mtn pull', you have to explicitly pass a key, if you want to use one. Markus
