Some months ago I spent several days making sure that file and ssh are
also supported on Windows by using names pipes. With some luck the code
is still compilable (netxx_pipe.c), it even came with a working unit
test at its end.

Perhaps someone might also find time to fix the existing code. I can't
currently (tortoiseMtn is more attractive to work on)
