If you could have a look at the indefero bug report, I determined that
it was possible to trigger this bug using just make, and it was
unrelated to the test suite.

I'm a little less sure that the fact it only occurs with -jn indicates a
bug in make though. In particular, I was uncertain if the the use of
.PHONY for real targets might behave problematically in the parallel case.
