I got this enhancement request at the Debian BTS, sounds like a very
useful feature, but I guess it'd need quite some rewrite of stuff.

Package: nano
Version: 1.2.2-7
Severity: wishlist

Spell checkers list aspell need to know if a file is LaTeX, HTML, etc.
in order to avoid checking commands, contents of URLs, etc. If the
"syntax" command, which presently only affects the "color" command,
worked with all commands, then "set speller" could be redefined based on
the file extention. This would be very helpful.
