[Nano-devel] better status line when editing multiple files

Hi,

When editing multiple files (say nano src/*.c), hitting ^X will show
"[ Switched to somefile.c ]" on the status line. In my opinion it
would be more useful to always display the line that says how
many lines were read -- this message implies that a different file
has been loaded, and its name can always be seen on the top line.

Showing always the number of lines read is especially useful
when some of the edited files are in unusual formats or unwritable.
For example, I was editing a bunch of PO files, and some of them
were in DOS format, but I didn't realize this until I edited one of
them individually: "[ Read 48 lines (Converted from DOS format) ]"

Do others agree that the number of lines read is a more useful
default status line message than "Switched to file"?

Regards,

Benno
