Hi Devs!
Most other editors have a feature commonly called overwrite mode.
Generally it works like this: you hit insert, your cursor changes
(signaling you're in overwrite mode) and from there on (until you hit
insert again) everything you type will overwrite whatever char is over
the cursor (except if you press enter or type something in the end of
a line).
It is very useful to directly replace small parts of text, for
creating diagrams or to add modifications without changing the
position of the rest of the document.
I want this feature and have been investigating how to implement it.
It seems very easy to do.
Can I go ahead a send a patch that implements it?
