Details:

imread chrashes Octave 3.2.4 on my Fedora 13 x86_64 machine.

it is the function __magick_read__ inside imread that calls ImageMagick:

octave:2> __magick_read__('cameraman.png');
octave: magick/semaphore.c:525: LockSemaphoreInfo: Assertion `semaphore_info
!= (SemaphoreInfo *) ((void *)0)' failed.
panic: Aborted -- stopping myself...
attempting to save variables to `octave-core'...
save to `octave-core' complete
Afbrudt (SIGABRT) (core dumped)

Fails for both png and jpg files. I have ImageMagick version 6.5.8-10
installed, also x86_64.
