Seems similar to this
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?29929
but I don't think that the following is a suitable answer

However, since the print() command is being changed in a significant way,
I don't see any benefit to keeping this open. We'll have to encourage users
to test the new sources before the next release anyway.

>From Octave 3.0.3 to Octave 3.2.2 I had to write again my code
cause I'll have 1Tbyte of results and thogh code for 3.0.3 was
supposed to work, my code for Octave 3.2.2 was expected to be
best suited and faster. Then with Octave 3.2.4 seemed that
I should not write again my code till I arrived to the plot function;
then I had to write again my code for the second time.
Although, to ask for backward compatibility for me would be
toward Octave 3.2.2 and I understand that can only be asked.

Since I need reliable results, I'll expect the stable version 3.2.4
to be the version in which major bugs are fixed and the one to use.

I can't keep writing again from the beginnig my code for the third time.

You can expect a user to be a beta tester when, he can compare
the results, with the results from the stable version.
Or otherwise, always keep backward compatibility, so someone can
test the beta version, and check the results with the stable and
reliable one.

Anyway just leave the bug open I'll work on it.

Thankyou for devoloping Octave
