I said that with my Debian hat on. I'm aware that 3.2.4 is the version
shipped with squeeze. This is a problem that has to be fixed. In fact,
I was looking right now at the Debian packaging of Octave, which has
gotten quite dusty from a couple of years of neglect.

But as far as my Octave hat, the current stable in Octave is 3.4.2,
and that's the one that we are trying to maintain. We simply do not
have the resources to maintain more than one stable release. I expect
Octave will release one more stable release in the 3.4.x series before
making a new 3.6 stable release, but that is up to the release manager
to decide (currently, jwe).
