Yes indeed, applying this change builtins.cc contains only C! o/

-E is not available on linux, however, -r is  available on OpenBSD:

     -r      An alias for -E, for compatibility with GNU sed.


Sounds about right?

I am attaching a diff, kicking off a full build now. Hopefully this will be
octave-3.4.3 running on OpenBSD!
