Follow-up Comment #5, bug #35679 (project octave):

median has had segfault problems way back before:

It's worrying for a software of this age to have such basic bugs. Perhaps 3.6
isn't really a stable branch. And perhaps major C++ changes should be more
thoroughly unit-tested.
