Follow-up Comment #4, bug #39179 (project octave):

Oh yeah, about the 10 second timeout.  The GUI basically has ten seconds to
find the file and open it.  Removing the time input option would make the wait
indefinite.  That too would probably be fine, because I haven't seen too many
problems with this approach.  I just wanted to test the concept of the link
timing out.  If ever the GUI gets stuck for some strange reason while opening
a file, the following example error appears:
