Follow-up Comment #3, bug #39828 (project octave):

I suspected that it was from Matlab, and not surprised
that they choose a kind of random subset.

Right, doing the full TeX set would be good.
In the past there were some font issues with respect to
the full TeX set, but this should be better now.  Still,
there will likely be font differences between platforms...
