Follow-up Comment #6, bug #39896 (project octave):

I embedded the script into Makefile.am, because they're so simple that I
didn't think a separate script was worth it. And even if they're generated due
to other changes in Makefile.am, the impact on the rebuild is quite low (it's
not like a change in config.h...).
