Details:

I have been using Octave as part of a machine learning on-line course. The
Octave window sometimes disappears without warning and Octave is no longer
running. This makes the course difficult.
Version 3.6.4 has the same problem. This is on Windows 7 64 bit.

My computer is also running two BOINC programs (Einstein at Hone and Quake
Tracker). Both these, but especially the latter, frequently send data over the
Internet.

When I suspend these programs, the problem with Octave is gone.

Does Octave access the Internet as well, and crashes if the link is busy?
