Follow-up Comment #17, bug #40443 (project octave):

It sounds like the problem is in the symbol table and the scoping of variables
and functions.  Given that the test suite does lots of strange things like
eval'ing temporary functions into existence, using nested functions with
unwind/protect blocks, etc. I'm not surprised that it provokes these kinds of
things.
