Details:
If multiple versions of Octave are co-installed on the system, the new octave
dispatcher executable only runs whichever version of Octave was installed most
recently.
Previously, I was able to run octave-3.4.2 or octave-3.6.4 or octave-3.7.7+
and it would run the correct version.
The new octave dispatch program runs octave-cli or octave-gui but does not pay
attention to the version suffix, if any. I have octave-3.7.7+ and
octave-4.1.0+ installed. The symbolic links octave-cli and octave-gui both
point to the 4.1.0+ versions since it is the most recently installed. If I run
octave-3.7.7+, the 4.1.0+ version is actually run, either CLI or GUI.
If we still want to support the ability to install and run multiple versions
of Octave at the same time, this is a fairly serious regression.
