Follow-up Comment #20, bug #40156 (project octave):

Yes, Jordi's suggestion is exactly what I was proposing. If it's important to
distribute some "traditional" set of keybindings to users familiar with
Matlab, then such an inputrc can always be made available somewhere and ready
to drop in to their Octave installation.
