Follow-up Comment #3:
Well I consider this a fairly critical bug, so a new io package would be due
with the fix.
Please drop the 3 files in attached zip archive test_bug42192.zip into:
share/octave/packages/io-2.2.0/private/
(just overwrite or rename the existing files with same name) and report back
please.
