Follow-up Comment #2, bug #43530 (project octave): One possible reason is, that one library that is linked to octave was compiled with different LLVM version than octave itself. For example with Ubuntu 14.04 the crash happens in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r600_dri.so (linked to LLVM 3.4) when octave itself was built with LLVM 3.5.
