Details:

I was wondering if this function is available in Octave? I'm slightly puzzled
as it seems there is an plugin in h5utils
(https://packages.debian.org/jessie/h5utils) specifically for Octave:

 - h5read, a plugin for the Octave numerical language.

but it isn't apparently used by the default Octave install. Or at least, I
don't know how to activate it. I'd appeciate if anyone can give me some
pointers - thanks.
