What exactly do you mean by min/max-control?

_The default text in the editor window does not overlap as 3.8_

I thought the terminal fonts were the problem? Are these also okay now?

_The Preferences dialog starts "too small" but once resized appears as
expected_

The very first time the preferences dialog is shown with a fixed size. I will
prepare a changeset for this.
