Follow-up Comment #5, bug #44577 (project octave):

I was just writing something similar :-). I provided a patch that is now in
gl2ps dev tree and that fixes the issue here.

Until the next release of gl2ps, we have at least a workaround: "set (gca,
"color", "none")".
