Follow-up Comment #52, bug #44751 (project octave):

Could those observing this problem originally on an openSUSE system try the
attached patch and confirm that the problem is not re-introduced?  We've found
that signals are not handled properly with the octave_qt_link thread affinity
not in the GUI thread.  Thanks.
