Follow-up Comment #17, bug #42838 (project octave):

Michael: I can confirm your observation that 3D plots do render to a file
correctly with gnuplot version 5, only 2D plots have the black area fill.

Remember, this is about printed files, and yes this is a gnuplot problem.

I have attached two eps files generated by Octave with gnuplot 4.6.6 and 5.0.0
respectively. One can diff the files and see the differences between them.

The important difference is the following line that appears in the gnuplot
version 5 output:


1.000 540 400 10618 7998 BoxColFill


Removing that line removes the black area fill and the line plot is visible.
