(1) To answer your question: I had the scores (for example, batting averages)
of each individual in matrix. Each column represents a group (say, a team).
The population is initially sorted by a parameter H (say, height.). I wanted
to rank them, within each team, using this criterion: "Rank by the
performance. In case of ties, prefer the tallest player."
(2) Re skipping revordinal, that's just fine; and again, really appreciate
that you took the effort to create a patch for this.
