Follow-up Comment #33, bug #46795 (project octave):

Thanks again for your testing Philip.

I've updated the GUI patch to suppress the message on the console.

I got a bit confused when you spoke of double vs single quoting. I assume you
mean two vs one levels of quoting, rather than " vs '. In that case, I'm not
sure why the first example you gave didn't cause it to break. I always get
the second "verbatim" block. I wish I could look over your shoulder as you do
this :)

Unless I change the parser, there is nothing I can do to detect the quotes in
"f". They're removed before dbstop is called. However, I have updated the
documentation with an example (your favourite dbstop in strread at 209 if
'any (format == "%f")') and put quotes in the example usage line. It now also
applies cleanly to the tip of the default branch.

In regard to your question '/typing "dbstop ...", not necessarily in the
octave-cli executable/
Where else should I enter this dbstop .... command?' the place other than the
octave-cli executable is the command window of the octave-gui executable.
